Our report Exploring the experiences of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) was presented to Gateshead Council. As part of this research, we spoke to 16 young people across Gateshead about their social care experiences, focusing on the transition from children's social care to adult social care
Gateshead Council received this report, and have incorporated our recommendations into their SEND strategy and action plan. Healthwatch Gateshead will review progress against the report’s recommendations in 2026.
