Healthwatch Gateshead is proud to part of the Healthwatch North East and North Cumbria (NENC) regional network.
The goal of the network is to make sure people's experiences with health and social care services are heard regionally at the Integrated Care System (ICS) level and help influence decisions made about those services.
Our network of 14 local Healthwatch groups to improve health and care services both regionally and nationally. Funding from our Integrated Care Board helped us build strong, meaningful relationships within this network, consistently adding value to the design of health and care services.
We have representatives from our network on local and regional strategic boards. These boards have robust reporting structures that support coordinated and effective engagement with our communities. Our collaborative approach is recognised nationally as best practice.
Our recent joint work includes gathering public views to support the following projects:
- Gathering dentistry feedback
- Helping the Integrated Care Board refresh their involvement strategy
- Gathering women's views on NHS Healthcare as part of the Big Conversation
- Delivering public involvement workshops for the NHS 10 Year Strategy
- Gathering feedback for the North East Ambulance Service
You can read more about each of these in our 2024-25 Annual Report.
