You Said, We Did: March-April 2026 Case Studies
In February, a woman who we had met across multiple visits to a local warm space approached us with a problem. She was facing a lack of contact from her social worker, leaving her worried and uncertain about the wellbeing of her children, who were currently in foster care. We listened to her concerns and frustrations, helping her to understand what she needed to do to get more information from the social services team and figure out a path forward.
She left with an action plan, and reached out later that month to let us know that she had received a response. She now had the information she was looking for and had been offered support.
We also spoke to a man who approached us at a drop-in session in central Gateshead. He was an active trade union member, with a particular interest in advocating for accessibility and transport needs of members. He told us he was 'of the age' where bus travel became more important but also more challenging, and was interested in learning what support options were available to himself and others in his community.
Together, we looked at travel options like the Nexus Bridge Card, a scheme that allows travellers to show staff that they may need additional support. He was enthusiastic about this outcome, and returned at the next drop-in to tell us the information 'had gone down a storm' with the people he works with, and that he planned to look into equivalent programmes in other areas of the UK.
